REVA STOVER

WRITING

Reva writes short stories, plays, screenplays, script treatments, and has been championing up-and-coming writers through development for over five years. She is most excited about world-building, character development, and shaping writing for the writer’s intended impact.

Reva has written plays such as Goldie and the Green Mountains (Or the Vermont Play) (PWTF, First World), Running (Wings of Paper Theatre), Hungry for Paint (Little Yellow House Studio),  a series of pieces inspired by Shakespearean sonnets (Revolution Shakespeare), Reasons (Art and Vine Entertainment), and Moments ( PWTF). As a playwright, Reva often combines Afro-surrealism with Theatre of the Grotesque to explore how oppressive systems directly impact women, genderqueer, and non-binary fems, with an intimate focus on the experiences of femmes of color. Out of this came Reva’s self-defined style, Grotesque - Womanism.

Incited by the 2022 fall of Roe v Wade, increasing violence toward Black women, misogynoir, the consistent mistreatment of Black women in hospitals, and all the injustice that came before - Grotesque- Womanism is a theatrical, film, fashion, and design movement that juxtaposes “masculine” and “feminine” forms of violence by depicting women, femmes, and nonbinary people utilizing both to assert dominance in social or political systems seeking to take their agency. This movement works to provide catharsis and communal safety for Black and Brown women, genderqueers, and nonbinary folks.

After years of working with playwrights, devisers, and storytellers, Reva offers private feedback and editing sessions to independent writers and organizations in need of support. If you are in need of feedback, edits, script treatments, or dramaturgical support, feel free to reach out to Reva using the contact form.
